| STANFORD ALUMNI IN NEW ENGLAND PROFILES Read about three local alumni who are making their marks professionally here in New England.
Karen Routt (MBA '83) is helping the elderly in the greater Boston area stay in their homes as Executive Director of Creative Alliances. Caring for aging parents and loved ones isn't an issue for everyone, but it is becoming more and more common. Creative Alliances coordinates services an elderly person might need, often serving as the "adult daughter or son" who is working, living in another city or has other time limitations. If you would like to learn more about navigating elderly care issues, what to look for in arranging care, or dealing with care-giving issues, please visit the Creative Alliances Web site at http://www.creativealliances.org.
SCNE President Emeritus Fred Wainwright ('86,'87) has accepted an offer to be the Executive Director of the Foster Center for Private Equity at the Tuck School of Business in Dartmouth College. Fred will also be Adjunct Assistant Professor at Tuck. Any Stanford alums interested in applying for an MBA at Tuck are welcome to contact Fred at (603) 252-6222. For more information about the Foster Center for Private Equity, please check the center's Web site at http://mba.tuck.dartmouth.edu/pecenter/.
Leslie Wheeler ('67) published her first mystery novel, Murder at Plimoth Plantation, last fall by Larcom Press. While most of the action takes place in the living-history museum of Plimoth Plantation in the present time, there are references to Stanford and the radical activity of the '60s, because her protagonist is a Stanford grad of our era. Leslie has spent years writing American history and biographical nonfiction (Jimmy Who?, Loving Warriors, America, The People and the Dream). Now, she finds it challenging, and lots of fun, to try her hand at fiction. Leslie had a double major in English and history at Stanford and had been looking for ways to combine the two fields ever since.
