For first-timers and long-standing opera buffs alike, the WDCSA has secured 20 tickets for two of the world's most beloved operas: Puccini's Tosca on February 19 and Verdi's Otello on March 1. The Washington Opera celebrates Tosca's 100th birthday this year with a new production, starring the renowned Russian soprano Galina Gorchakova. With its passionate story of political and romantic intrigue set to some of Puccini's most glorious music, this opera is a time-honored treasure.

We close out the season with Otello, widely acclaimed as the finest Italian opera ever written. Jose Cura, who thrilled local audiences last year in his Washington debut as Samson, sings the title role. Daniella Dessi returns as Desdemona, and Placido Domingo, who knows Otello as no other performer, is conducting.

Join fellow Stanford alums for one or both of these sure-to-sell-out operas by sending a check made out to WDCSA to Julie Campbell, 2601 Klingle Road NW, Washington, DC 20008. Tickets will be distributed on a first come-first serve basis upon receipt of payment. If you have questions, call Julie at (202) 244-0206 or email her at juliecampbell@aol.com
