TEAM SPOTLIGHT: WDCSA BASKETBALL

The 2017 Washington DC Stanford Cardinal Alumni Basketball season was a real rollercoaster. We started out blasting Georgia Tech 75-36 in the season opener and rolled out to a 3-1 start. However, we lost the next four games, including one to the two-time defending champion Syracuse Orange Alumni team. The post season tournament put us back on top with a solid 62-48 win against Georgia Tech, but ended with another loss to Syracuse. Our final record, including the tournament, was 5-5 after our loss to West Virginia was converted to a win, a penalty for using too many non-alumni players in the game.

Special shoutouts are due to Micki Ream, Whitney Martin, and Lizzie Epstein who came through at a clutch time for the team.

Basketball season normally runs from January – March and games are played at John Adams Elementary School in Alexandria. If interested in playing during the 2018 season, contact Gregory Billings (email billings.g@gmail.com). Go Cardinal!
