Dual Memberships for Parents and Stanford Couples
Membership provides one listing in our annual membership directory
and one copy of the directory. For Stanford parents, or for couples where both
are Stanford grads, there are three options regarding membership:
- Option 1 -- One membership, one directory listing, one copy of the directory
-- One person signs up as the member, the other is listed as spouse or partner.
Our members who choose this sometimes list the male as the member, and sometimes
the female as the member. The disadvantages of choosing this option are
that the professional listing is only shown for the member and finding someone
in the directory is more difficult in cases where the couple has different
last names.
- Option 2 -- One membership, one directory listing, one copy of the directory
-- A couple signs up in both their names, e.g., "Jane and Leland Stanford."
The disadvantage is that it is unclear which person the professional listing
applies to
- Option 3 -- Two memberships, two directory listings, two copies of the
directory -- Both signup as members, with the other being listed as spouse
or partner in each case. Both have a separate listing in directory. The
disadvantage is the cost of extra membership. Making at least one of the
memberships an email-only option eliminates duplicate postal service mailings
and reduces cost of membership.
